Advent begins this Sunday

Advent is the story of a loving God who loved the world so much he sent his son to come into the world to save those who put their trust in him.

The word “Advent” comes from the Latin word “advenire” which means coming to or arriving at. It refers to God’s coming into the world through Jesus. This year, Advent starts on Sunday, Dec. 1.

Christmas is a time to spend with your family and friends. Where better to spend a small portion of our day praising the Father, Son and Holy Spirit than in St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church?

St. Stephen’s continues to preach the Gospel at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sundays, proclaiming that Jesus Christ is Lord and that our salvation is His gift to us.

During Advent, we will be having potluck dinners and bible studies on Tuesday evenings, Dec. 3, 10 and 17. The potlucks will start at 6:30 with the bible study following. All are welcome!

Our Christmas Eve service on Tuesday, Dec. 24 at 7 p.m. will be a joyous affair, followed by a Christmas Day service on Wednesday, Dec. 25 at 10 a.m.

Our prayer for all of you and yours is for a blessed Christmas season.

Peace and prayers always,
Rev. Dave
